The Minister of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak, participated in the clearing and coordination briefing of the management staff of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. The head of the ministry assured that Poland has drawn conclusions from what is happening beyond the eastern border.
Minister Błaszczak emphasized that the Law on the Defense of the Homeland is the foundation for building our country’s resistance to threats. In the opinion of the Minister of National Defense, it is crucial to strengthen the presence of the Polish Army in the east of the country.
“We are focusing on the development of artillery. We can see that the Russian aggressor uses these shameful methods, which he also used during World War II, and we are building resistance to such actions. Hence, the soldiers of the Polish Army are in the east of our country with the basic task not to give a centimeter of Polish land under the occupation of the aggressor, declared the head of the Ministry of Defense”, said Błaszczak.
The head of the Ministry of Defense informed that it is planned to sign a contract for the supply of mines destroyers, ZSSW remotely controlled turret systems integrated with the Rosomak transporters, AW149 multi-role support helicopters from Świdnik, two observation satellites and tank destroyers under the Ottokar-Brzoza program.
The minister also said that the war in Ukraine opened the eyes of even the greatest sceptics of the development of the Polish Armed Forces.
“On the basis of observations of what is happening in Ukraine, it was confirmed what the PiS government and the Head of the Armed Forces, President Andrzej Duda, had been saying for a long time: Poland needs a large army, well-equipped, modern and, above all, capable of self-defense our borders”, he stressed.
The head of the Ministry of National Defense announced the formation of two new general military divisions along the Vistula River in central Poland. The further development of the armed forces will be determined by the Ministry of National Defense document “Model 2035”, which will be presented soon.
