Asked about the visit of the leaders of France, Germany and Italy to Kyiv, the head of the National Security Bureau (BBN) emphasized that the more visits, talks and interest in Ukraine, the better. Such a visit will be very good. We will see what result it produces”, said Paweł Soloch.
According to the Italian daily “La Stampa”, on Thursday 16 June, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron will visit the Ukrainian capital.
The head of the BBN emphasized that the Polish president and prime minister had visited Ukraine several times.
“If there is such a need, our president may join in consultations that may take place with these three politicians. All decisions and proposals cannot be discussed without Ukraine”, added Soloch and noted that such a position “a few days ago was confirmed by US President Joe Biden in a letter to the Bucharest Nine.”
Meanwhile, the Chancellery of the President announced that on Monday, June 13, in the afternoon, President Andrzej Duda will hold a remote conversation with Slovakia’s President Zuzana Czaputova and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky. The talks will focus on last week’s foreign visits by the Polish president.
Last week, President Andrzej Duda visited Portugal, Italy, and finally, Romania, where he took part in the summit of the leaders of the Bucharest Nine countries (B9).
The purpose of the B9 leaders’ meeting was to prepare a position ahead of the June NATO summit in Madrid, which will be held on June 29-30.
President Andrzej Duda said that the NATO summit in Madrid “will determine the new form of the presence of the alliance’s forces on the eastern flank.” The head of the BBN, Paweł Soloch explained that the key issue is an increased military presence in the Baltic countries and in Poland. “There will be more forces there, we also want them to be bigger and more numerous, rather brigades, not battalions”, added Soloch.
