According to the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, already over 200 thousand Ukrainian citizens found work under a simplified procedure adopted in the government’s special act. Every fifth of them works in the Mazowieckie province, many Ukrainian citizens were also employed in the Dolnośląskie and Wielkopolskierovinces.
“When we compare the employment data of Ukrainian citizens with the latest estimates of unemployment in Poland, we can see how important position is occupied by the foreigners in the Polish labour market. We estimate that unemployment fell again in May and now stands at 5.1%. This means that employees from the East easily fill the staff shortages in many industries, supporting Polish entrepreneurs and the economy”, said the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.
“Providing Ukrainian citizens with work in Poland turned out to be a very good decision, which benefited both parties. People who found shelter in our country from Russian aggression gained a sense of stability and independence thanks to taking up a job. Polish employers, on the other hand, found sought employees, especially during seasonal work that is already underway”, adds Minister Marlena Maląg.
Since March 15 this year, employers have informed the ministry about the employment of 200,101 Ukrainian citizens. Every fifth was employed in the province. Mazowieckie (45,000). Many people also found a job in the Dolnośląskie (21.200), Wielkopolska (19.600) and Łódzkie (19,000). The least numberous employment was in the Świętokrzyskie province (1.700), Podkarpackie (2,400) and Podlasie (3.700).
The May research conducted by ARC Rynek i Opinia shows that 58% of Ukrainian refugees are planning to stay in Poland if hostilities will continue in their homeland. Over 20% of the respondents planned to stay in Poland even in the event of the end of the war.
