This year’s Music of the World Warsaw 2022 festival will last four days – from 9 to 12 June. The main guest of the third festival will be Dhafer Youssef, who received millions of views on the Internet. “He is the world leader in terms of music”, said Milo Kurtis, a musician, and artistic director of the Music of the World Festival.
For four days, the Warsaw club “Stodoła” will offer the guests multicultural sounds of Europe and Africa, taking them on a unique musical journey across these continents, through various genres and musical styles: from traditional music, through classical music to elements of pop and free jazz, through non-obvious, multi-coloured sounds and a wealth of expressive emotions.
On the first day of the festival, Dhafer Youssef from Tunisia singer and composer, master of the lute of oud will perform his music. Youssef is an Austrian citizen, permanently residing in Paris.
“As it turned out, he is very well-known in Poland, because when the sale of tickets started, the club sold a hundred of them on the first day. And it must be emphasized that the “Stodoła” can only accommodate 800 people”, said Milo Kurtis.
The director of the festival is delighted with the style of Youssef, who has already given concerts in Poland, also, with Anna Maria Jopek.
“Honestly, I have not heard such a beautifully singing artist. He plays the music that I also excerpt from, i.e. Mediterranean music. He is Tunisian, but he plays fusion moving towards jazz”, said Kurtis.
All festival concerts start at 7.00 p.m. Youssef’s concert will be opened by Polish artist Karolina Cicha.
“I think that it is not necessary to talk about her too much because everyone who is interested in such music knows what she is playing. However, as a reminder: she will play Caribbean music because she has just released a new album. We can also find a lot of electronics in her music. I want the opening of the festival to be like Hitchcock’s, that is, with a big bang”, emphasized Milo Kurtis.
