“I believe that we are able to create a great community of nations in our part of Europe which power has been proved by our history. We have enormous potential, mainly in people, both Poles and Ukrainians, and our neighbours, Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians”, said President Andrzej Duda during the celebration of the Constitution of May 3.

Celebrations on the occasion of the Constitution of May 3 took place at Castle Square. In his speech, President Andrzej Duda referred to the historical events that took place at the Royal Castle.

“How characteristic is this image that we see today, which we can see many times in photos or archival film materials, especially from the last decades: the authorities of the Republic of Poland with its distinguished citizens, standing here, in this exact place, in the shadow of the Royal Castle in Warsaw. For everyone, this image is clearly associated with this date, May 3, the anniversary of the great May Constitution, the great work of our ancestors 231 years ago”, said Duda.

Andrzej Duda also spoke about the war in Ukraine, the hospitality of Poles and a new opening in the history of the Polish and Ukrainian nations.

“I stand here with emotion and I want to thank you, my dear Poles, for a living commitment of both nations. For what you have done recently”, said the president.

The president recalled the meeting with the presidents of Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia organized at the Royal Castle exactly a year earlier. He also mentioned a photo of the five leaders recently taken in Kyiv.

“Today we are together again, it reminds me a photo of the hands held by the presidents of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine in Kyiv during the Russian aggression, I deeply believe that it will be remembered in history and will build this future history”, emphasized Andrzej Duda.
