At the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM), Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with the President of the European Parliament (EP) Roberta Metsola. The discussion focused on preparations for the EU parliamentary elections, the future of the European Union (EU). and the situation of Polish agriculture in the context of food security in the European Union.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the press conference after the meeting, the Polish Prime Minister stressed that everyone should now focus on the issue of food security, in the context of the security of the entire EU. This includes decisions related to the liberalisation of trade with Ukraine or certain aspects of the Green Deal.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We discussed the specific situation of Polish agriculture. I count on the understanding of the President of the European Parliament. Polish farmers must be sure that the solutions being prepared are to be friendly, not targeted at their interests”, said the Prime Minister, quoted in a press release from the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the head of the Polish government, there are currently no simple solutions and situations in European politics and in this and the next term of the EP, the interests of agricultural producers in Europe and in Poland should be taken care of more effectively. – “Everyone is entitled to full respect and understanding for their own interests in Europe”, Prime Minister Tusk stressed.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President of the EP expressed her delight at the fact that she is visiting Poland at a time when we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of our country’s accession to the European Union.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I am delighted that Poland is returning to the heart of Europe and becoming its leader”, said Roberta Metsola. The EP President also stressed that we must be united and unequivocally condemn the Russian aggression against Ukraine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“We know that we can support Ukraine but also protect our internal markets”, Roberta Metsola asserted.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President of the European Parliament is visiting Poland at the invitation of Senate Speaker Ma\u0142gorzata Kidawa-B\u0142o\u0144ska. The visit is in connection with the European Parliament elections to be held on 6-9 June 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n
