After nearly 7 years since the opening of the Museum of the Second World War (MIIW\u015a) in Gda\u0144sk, including almost 3 years of the prevailing pandemic, the facility was visited by its 3 millionth visitor last week. The exceptional visitors were Mr and Mrs Ma\u0142gorzata and Mr Micha\u0142 Wawrzy\u0144czak and their two children, who came to Gda\u0144sk from Kalisz.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

They came to the Museum motivated by curiosity about the history of the most tragic conflict in the history of our civilisation and to see one of the largest exhibition areas in Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

The surprised guests were greeted at the entrance to the exhibition by Grzegorz Berendt, Director of the Museum of the Second World War, and Andrzej Ka\u0142wa, Director of Business Development at Polferries, a partner of the Museum. They presented the guests with commemorative gifts, including a voucher for a cruise on the Polferries ferry on the Gda\u0144sk – Nynashamn route and back.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We are delighted that Polferries will be able to welcome the 3 millionth visitor to the Museum of the Second World War on board its ferry. Our cooperation has been going on for eight months now and we are very satisfied with it. We are carrying out a number of joint projects with the museum”, said Micha\u0142 Arciszewski, a spokesman for Polferries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As he added, cooperation between the two institutions takes place on both a commercial and educational level.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“We carry out a number of educational projects, including the ‘Cruise with History’ project, during which museum educators encourage and invite passengers sailing with us to learn about the history of World War II, to learn about the hardships of that time”, Arciszewski said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is not by chance that we have decided on such cooperation, for our ferries arrive at the Westerplatte Peninsula, where the tragedy of those times began. The Museum is now in the midst of a major project involving the construction of a Tourist Service Point at Westerplatte, which will in fact be the first point our passengers will be able to visit when disembarking directly from the ferry and experiencing the Polish coast”, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n
