Prior to his departure to Ukraine,\u00a0Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki\u00a0said that Poland is\u00a0ready to help Ukraine by offering various means related to the war possibility including defensive weapons. Asked about the details of Polish aid, the Prime Minister listed ammunition, Polish portable anti-aircraft missile system of very short range \u201cGrom\u201d and various types of drones of a defensive character.<\/p>\n
In an interview for the Ukrainian portal lb.ua, Prime Minister recalled that “history teaches Europeans that Russian President Vladimir Putin must be stopped before it is too late”.<\/p>\n
Morawiecki noted in his post on social media that the concentration of Russian troops on the borders of Ukraine made Europe aware of the fragility of the peace in Europe that had been kept for decades. \u201cUnfortunately, not everyone is fully aware of the consequences of possibly leaving Ukraine on its own. It is known well from history that such a policy usually ends badly for the whole of Europe\u201d, said Prime Minister.<\/p>\n
Deputy Minister of National Defense Marcin Ociepa revealed that technical consultations concerning the details of Polish military aid had been held with the Ukrainians for many days.<\/p>\n
Ociepa expects Ukraine first to declare what it requires in that situation and Poland will respond to that. \u201cThose issues are very sensitive and the media information does not reflect the whole situation. Poland was one of the first states to support the Ukrainian government so strongly and it declares its readiness to help Ukraine if it would be needed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Morawiecki began his visit in Kyiv by laying flowers on the grave of Polish Legionnaires in 1920 at the Baikove\u2019s Cemetery and at the Wall of Remembrance for the Fallen for Ukraine at the St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery.<\/p>\n
In Kyiv, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki spoke with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and then with President Volodymyr Zelensky. During this first meeting, prime ministers discussed security and economic issues. The conversation with President Zelensky focused on Polish aid to Ukraine.<\/p>\n
In addition to military and diplomatic support, 29 Polish trucks with humanitarian aid have arrived in Ukraine today. The convoy was organized by the Governmental Agency for Strategic Reserves.<\/p>\n
Also, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will come to Kyiv today. According to the Ukrainian media, the prime ministers of Poland, Great Britain and Ukraine are developing a new format of cooperation between the countries aimed at counteracting Russian aggression.<\/p>\n
