{"id":54407,"date":"2024-01-04T11:44:53","date_gmt":"2024-01-04T10:44:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dignitynews.eu\/?p=54407"},"modified":"2024-01-05T10:38:20","modified_gmt":"2024-01-05T09:38:20","slug":"exhibition-of-works-by-iwona-rozbiewska-at-the-centre-for-polish-sculpture-in-oronsko","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dignitynews.eu\/en\/exhibition-of-works-by-iwona-rozbiewska-at-the-centre-for-polish-sculpture-in-oronsko\/","title":{"rendered":"Exhibition of works by Iwona Rozbiewska at the Centre for Polish Sculpture in Oro\u0144sko"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>An exhibition of Iwona Rozbiewska&#8217;s work &#8216;Into the Trapezoid&#8217; is on display until the end of January 2024 at the Oran\u017ceria Gallery of the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Oro\u0144sko.<\/h5>\n<p>The solo exhibition &#8216;Into the Trapezoid&#8217; presents the works of contemporary Polish artist Iwona Rozbiewska, whose works are interdisciplinary, encompassing installations and sculptures derived from and inspired by a number of art disciplines such as sculpture, film, poetry and architecture.<\/p>\n<p>The works shown in the exhibition include installations and works from different periods of Rozbiewska&#8217;s artistic career, each with a different theme or point of departure. Her earlier works, such as &#8216;When I leave myself&#8230;&#8217; (2013), &#8216;Constructing Happiness&#8217; (2014) and &#8216;Hidden Space&#8217; (2015), clearly focus on metaphors and symbolic meaning. These works are characterised by intertextual references to corporeality, symbols or are metaphors for abstract constructs explored within the work&#8221;, according to information from the Centre for Polish Sculpture in Oro\u0144sko.<\/p>\n<p>Particularly noteworthy is the installation from the series Refreshing the Rules (2017), which presents a particular composition of light blue pool tiles arranged in such a way that they resemble a swimming pool somewhat, but with distinctively distorted surfaces. The tile composition is accompanied by a trampoline.<\/p>\n<p>Iwona Rozbiewska divides her life between Poland and Germany. She graduated in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and Munich and received her doctorate in fine arts from the Academy of Art in Szczecin. She is the recipient of the Gilbert Bayes Award 2022 from the Royal Society of Sculptors in London. She has received several art scholarships, grants and residencies, including in Finland, Poland, Germany, Argentina and the Netherlands.
