“The decision of the Council of the European Union means that Poland will receive over EUR 5 billion from the revision of the KPO, the payment of which does not depend on meeting any milestones”, said the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, Ma\u0142gorzata Jarosi\u0144ska-Jedynak.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy had been coordinating work on the revision of the KPO since April. Its revision is due to the need to consider the new EU instrument RePowerEU, which deals with energy transition. This is the European Union’s response to the energy crisis associated with the high increase in energy prices and later the outbreak of war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n
The EU Council’s approval of the revised NIP means that the budget of the NIP will increase by more than \u20ac25.76 billion, or approximately PLN 114 billion (more than PLN 12 billion in grants and PLN 102 billion in concessional loans).<\/p>\n
The next step will be the signing of the amended agreements for the grant and loan parts, which should take place by 15 December. This will allow Poland to make the due advance payment.<\/p>\n
The REPowerEU funds are additional support that will be allocated to energy transformation in the broadest sense, including: investments in the development and modernisation of transmission and distribution networks and energy storage; infrastructure for the generation of alternative fuels, including from offshore wind energy; the promotion of civic energy; the creation of energy communities and supporting them in the use of RES; sustainable transport, the development of green skills and energy efficiency of enterprises.<\/p>\n
