The aim of introducing these measures is to counter illegal migration from the Balkan route, through which migrants travel to EU countries.<\/p>\n<p>Temporary border control was introduced from Wednesday, 4 October at 00:00 a.m. Originally, it was to be in force for 10 days, until 13 October. However, due to the ongoing situation and the need to further secure the borders, the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (MIA) has announced an extension of these security measures until early November.<\/p>\n<p>Travellers intending to cross the Polish-Slovak border are required to have valid travel documents, such as an identity card or passport. The border will only be crossed at designated checkpoints, where detailed document checks and vehicle searches will be carried out.<\/p>\n<p>The Polish-Slovak border will be crossed at 9 road border crossings (Radoszyce, Barwinek, Muszynka, Leluch\u00f3w, Piwniczna-Zdr\u00f3j &#8211; Mni\u0161ek nad Popradom, Jurg\u00f3w, Chy\u017cne, Korbiel\u00f3w, Zwardo\u0144 &#8211; Skalit\u00e9 Platforma).<\/p>\n<p>In addition, there will also be 3 railway border crossings (\u0141upk\u00f3w &#8211; Palota, Muszyna &#8211; Plave\u010d and Zwardo\u0144-Skalit\u00e9), and 10 pedestrian border crossings, intended only for citizens of the European Union and their spouses and children (O\u017cenna, Konieczna, Niedzica, \u0141ysa Polana, Chocho\u0142\u00f3w, Winiarczyk\u00f3wka, Ujso\u0142y, B\u00f3r, Zwardo\u0144 &#8211; M\u00fdto and Jaworzynka &#8211; \u010cierne -Skalit\u00e9).<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of the Interior and Administration is appealing for understanding for the measures taken to ensure public safety and order.<\/p>\n<p>Arkadiusz S\u0142omczy\u0144ski<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Interior and Administration has decided to extend temporary border controls on the Polish-Slovak border for another 20 days, until 2 November.
