“On Sunday we really showed that we are responsibly taking matters into our own hands. I can say that because I also took part as a voter”, President Andrzej Duda said in Rome on Monday.<\/p>\n
“We are all waiting for the State Electoral Commission to complete its work. I would like to thank once again all voters, all my compatriots who took part in the elections both in Poland and abroad. I am very grateful for this”, stressed Andrzej Duda.<\/p>\n
The following parties will be also represented in the Sejm in the completed elections: The Third Way with 14.4 % of the vote, the New Left Party with 8.6 % of the vote and the Confederation with 7.2 % of the vote.<\/p>\n
The incumbent Law and Justice party received 7,640,000 votes of Poles. On the other hand, the three opposition groupings (Civic Coalition, Third Way, and New Left) received a total of nearly 11 million 600 thousand votes.<\/p>\n
According to preliminary estimates, in the Polish Sejm, which is composed of 460 MPs, the parties will be represented as follows: Law and Justice – 194 MPs, Civic Coalition – 157, Third Way – 65, New Left – 26, Confederation – 18.<\/p>\n
The three opposition groups would then have a total of 248 MPs (the majority in the Polish Sejm is 231) and would be able to form a new government. The leaders of the opposition parties have already announced talks on the matter.<\/p>\n
The counting of results in the Senate elections is also coming to an end. The opposition grouped in the Senate Pact will have 66 senators and Law and Justice 34.<\/p>\n
