The Royal Castle in Warsaw will exhibit for the first time in Poland the picture “Boy Bitten by a Lizard” by Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, as well as over forty pictures by artists from Italy and Northern Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries.<\/p>\n
The extraordinary works can be admired until February 10 at the exhibition “Caravaggio and other masters. Masterpieces from the collection of Robert Longhi\u201d. The list of presented paintings includes works by Lorenzo Lotto, Battista del Moro, Domenico Fetti, Dirck van Baburen, Matthias Stomer or Jusepe de Ribera.<\/p>\n
The Royal Castle in Warsaw has also prepared a rich program of lectures and various activities related to the exhibition, including classes with educators in the exhibition, tours with a curator, an educational program for schools, a painting course and many other interesting offers for children, adults and families with children.<\/p>\n
The exhibition is described in a scientific catalog containing essays and notes compiled by researchers of the Robert Longhi Foundation.<\/p>\n
Michelangelo Merisi, better known by his nickname Caravaggio, was not only a forerunner of the Baroque but also a painter who changed the development of art into modernity. Each exhibition of his paintings outside Italy is a cultural event of great importance in the host country.<\/p>\n
