“Since its opening, the Navigation Channel has been used by around half a thousand vessels, the vast majority of which have a smaller draught due to the works carried out on the Elbl\u0105g River and the Vistula Lagoon. The Channel is also used by work vessels involved in the subsequent stages of construction. In accordance with accepted assumptions, navigation on this waterway will reach its target parameters after the completion of the entire investment”, says Deputy Infrastructure Minister Marek Gr\u00f3barczyk.<\/p>\n
Works on the construction of the second phase of the waterway connecting the Vistula Lagoon with the Gulf of Gdansk are being carried out according to the adopted schedule. The fairway on the Elbl\u0105g River is currently being rebuilt along a section of about 10.4 km. The banks along the Elbl\u0105g River will be enclosed with a hydro-technical structure to reinforce them. In addition, two low-rise marinas will be built along with a slip for launching vessels to facilitate access to the river.<\/p>\n
Phase II also includes the reconstruction of navigation signs and the construction of a new, more than 100-metre-long swing bridge in Nowakowo, which is expected to be operational in spring 2023. Along with the construction of the new bridge crossing, the project also includes the construction of a new section of county road and access roads to serve the property.<\/p>\n
In Phase III, the construction of a fairway on the Vistula Lagoon, approximately 8200 m in length, is being carried out. This task is an important part of the waterway, and its scope includes the track from the mouth of the Elbl\u0105g River to the Channel through the Vistula Spit, as well as the construction of new navigation signs. The advancement of work for stages II and III of the investment is approximately 80 %.<\/p>\n
