The undertaking was carried out on the initiative of the Ministry of Infrastructure, with financial support from the European Union, through the Technical Support Facility and in cooperation with the European Commission&#8217;s Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support.<\/h5>\n<p>&#8220;The necessity of taking measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in air transport is beyond dispute. An important role in this activity will be performed by airports, which are already taking the first initiatives in this respect. The project &#8216;Modernisation of the Polish airport network with a view to reducing CO2 emissions&#8217; is intended to support them in this process&#8221;, said Infrastructure Minister Andrzej Adamczyk.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the activities carried out was to involve Polish airports, which are part of the TEN-T network, in activities conducive to the energy transformation of the aviation sector and the mapping of greenhouse gas emissions, including the preparation of Polish airports to join the international Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme&#8221;, the infrastructure ministry said.<\/p>\n<p>In the project, representatives of airports participated in a workshop presenting information on the ACA programme and the principles of calculating a carbon footprint.<\/p>\n<p>The project contractor, Ernst &amp; Young, also prepared a report containing recommendations for adapting airports to current and planned Polish and EU regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The project &#8216;Modernisation of the Polish Airport Network in terms of CO2 Emission Reduction&#8217; was realised by the international consultancy firm Ernst &amp; Young, with the support of two Polish entities: Arcadis from Warsaw and Pracownia Innowacji Naturalnych from Lublin.<\/p>\n<p>Adrian Andrzejewski<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The project &#8216;Modernisation of the Polish airport network in terms of reducing CO2 emissions&#8217; has been completed.
