The Anglicists’ Night is an evening full of lectures, workshops and presentations prepared by native English speakers from all over Poland. It is a unique event whose main objective is to show the insights and academic potential of Polish En<\/p>\n
glish studies, as well as to demonstrate the falseness of the myth that English studies is only about learning a language.
\nAs part of the initiative, events are held both in-studio and online. Participation is free of charge, although registration is required for some of them.<\/p>\n
The Anglicists’ Night is organised and coordinated by Adam Mickiewicz University in Pozna\u0144, which is inviting participants to a series of lectures and workshops on issues such as reading phonetic transcription of English, translation of advertising texts and English pronunciation.<\/p>\n
At the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Dr Izabela Cury\u0142\u0142o-Klag will give a lecture on the British monarchy in the 21st century, followed by an invitation to discuss the evolution of the monarchy after the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the challenges facing King Charles III.<\/p>\n
Pedagogical University of Krakow is offering a workshop led by Dr Agnieszka Gicala, who will explore how to translate a 200-year-old fragment of Tadeusz Ko\u015bciuszko’s letter written in English.<\/p>\n
During the Anglicists’ Night, the Catholic University of Lublin is inviting participants to a meeting devoted to English tenses.<\/p>\n
The University of Gda\u0144sk is offering workshops on the basic elements of youth language and translation strategies.
\nThe University of Bia\u0142ystok is presenting an adaptation of King Lear, performed by third-year English students in a ‘read theatre’ format.<\/p>\n
