Approximately 5.8 million e-vaccinations were issued on the night of 15-16 September.<\/h5>\n<p>Vaccination with the second booster dose will be with preparations against the Omicron BA.1 or BA.4\/5 variants, which protect against severe COVID-19 or hospitalisation in nearly 90 % of cases.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The number of infections has been increasing in recent days. Fortunately, the number of hospitalisations is still at a stable, relatively low level&#8221;, said Health Minister Adam Niedzielski.<\/p>\n<p>He recalled that the best method to combat coronavirus is vaccination. &#8220;To date, we have issued 5 million e-referrals for the second booster dose against COVID-19. On the night of 15-16 September, we will issue another 5.8 million&#8221;, the Health Minister informed.<\/p>\n<p>Priority for vaccination with the second booster dose is given to people in at-risk groups: people aged 60+, with chronic diseases, with immune disorders, medical personnel who come into contact with patients or infectious material, and residents and staff in long-term care facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Patients who register for vaccination will receive the adapted vaccine that is currently availableat the vaccination centre.<br \/>\n&#8220;All currently authorised adapted vaccines are equally effective,&#8221; stressed Grzegorz Cessak, President of the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 4 million doses of Omicron BA.1 and BA 4\/5 targeted vaccines should arrive in Poland in September.
