The contract for the delivery of PZR Piorun for the Estonian Armed Forces was signed in the headquarters of MESKO S.A., a company belonging to the Polish Armament Group,. The ceremony was held in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence Mariusz Blaszczak and Minister of National Defence of Estonia Hanno Pevkur.<\/h5>\n

By the terms of the agreement, MESKO S.A. will supply the Estonian side with 300 missile sets and 100 launch mechanisms of the Piorun portable anti-aircraft missile set. Thus, Estonia will become the third foreign user of the PZR Piorun.<\/p>\n

On the Estonian side, the agreement was signed by Magnus – Valdemar Saar, Director General of the Estonian Defence Investment Centre, on the Polish side by the MESKO management board composed of: President of the Management Board of MESKO S.A. El\u017cbieta \u015areniawska, Development Member Dr Przemys\u0142aw Kowalczuk and Production Member Marcin O\u017c\u00f3g.
\nThe PPZR PIORUN is designed to combat helicopters, aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles and winged missiles. The missile has a fuse equipped with a proximity sensor, allowing it to strike a target in the event of its close passing. There is also an additional daylight and thermal imaging sight, allowing the operator to use the kit effectively also at night.<\/p>\n

The set has a new starting mechanism allowing for the selection of: chase-mode, type of target, weather conditions, realises an own-alien enquiry, communicates with optical and thermovision sights, as well as the possibility to use an authorisation key.<\/p>\n

“Piorun is a modern weapon. It has been proven on the battlefield, as it is used by the armed forces of Ukraine. It is effective because it stops and delays Russian aggression against Ukraine. Piorun is modern and effective. I am very pleased that these weapons have been supplied to the Polish Army and are now being supplied to the Estonian army”, said Minister Mariusz Blaszczak after signing the agreement.<\/p>\n
