According to PGNiG, the new deposit is located on the border of the municipalities of Tarnowo Podg\u00f3rne and Dopiewo, in the Pniewy-St\u0119szew concession, in central Wielkopolska. The discovery was made at the Sieros\u0142aw-2H exploration well, with a length of over 3,640 metres. Once the well is connected to the production, it will produce approximately 40 million cubic metres of nitrogenous natural gas per year, which translates into 32 million cubic metres of fuel per year in terms of high-methane gas. Based on the analysis of geological data and the results of a production test, PGNiG estimates that the reserves of the newly discovered field could be around 650 million cubic metres of high-methane, about 80%, nitrogen gas.<\/p>\n
“Domestic production is one of the pillars of security of gas supply for Polish consumers. We systematically search for new deposits and invest in the development of already recognised resources in order to maintain gas production at a stable level”, says Iwona Waksmundzka-Olejniczak, President of the Management Board of PGNiG SA.<\/p>\n
The location of the Sieros\u0142aw-2H well was selected based on an analysis of the results of geophysical surveys carried out using a three-dimensional seismic imaging method. The well was drilled from April to June 2022, followed by a production test, which confirmed the viability of exploiting the newly discovered resources.<\/p>\n
“This discovery is a major success for PGNiG Group specialists, made possible by the use of modern exploration techniques and advanced directional drilling methods. PGNiG’s knowledge and experience in this area, will be further developed after the merger with PKN ORLEN”, adds Iwona Waksmundzka-Olejniczak, the PGNiG CEO.<\/p>\n
