The photographic competition ‘Baczy\u0144ski without a Filter’, announced by the Foundation for Great Histories, received more than 1,100 photographs submitted by 450 participants. The competition, aimed at schoolchildren, began on 4 August 2021, the anniversary of the poet’s death, and ran until 31 December last year.<\/p>\n
The competition task was to take a photograph that was a personal interpretation of a selected poem by Baczy\u0144ski. Through their photographs, the authors of the works were supposed to show how they understand his poetry and how they perceive the world today. The winners of the competition will be announced on the 80th anniversary of the Home Army, 14 February 2022.<\/p>\n
Krzysztof Kamil Baczy\u0144ski died on Theatre Square on 4 August 1944 as a soldier of the ‘Parasol’. “He was one of the brightest diamonds who had to sacrifice his life due to those times and the choices, non-alternative choices. It is unimaginable what price Poland paid, but there was no other choice at the time. Today it is extremely important to recall those events”, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and National Heritage Professor Piotr Gli\u0144ski during the opening of the exhibition ‘Baczy\u0144ski without a Filter’.<\/p>\n
“He was only 23 years old when he died, and at that time he had already written 500 poems, becoming a mature poet in five years”, added the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. He stressed the importance of Baczynski’s work for the national community.<\/p>\n
“What he left us is of such great value that it gives us the strength to go on living and to make further choices”, said Deputy Prime Minister Gli\u0144ski.<\/p>\n
