The opening ceremony of the European Universities Games 2022 (EUG 2022) is scheduled for 17 July in the Atlas Arena in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a. The audience will be able to witness the march of several thousand athletes from all over Europe with the flags of their countries and the universities they will represent at the Games. The opening ceremony will be honoured by a performance by the 100-strong CoOperate Orchestra from Pozna\u0144.<\/p>\n
It will be followed by a visual presentation of \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, the Technical University of \u0141\u00f3d\u017a and the Academic Sports Association, the organisers of Europe’s largest academic sporting event.<\/p>\n
Students at the EUG 2022 will represent 383 European universities. The athletes will come to Lodz from Portugal, Cyprus, Austria, Great Britain, France, Hungary, Spain, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Ukraine, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Georgia, Kosovo, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Finland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Belgium, Slovakia, Serbia, Armenia, Greece, Israel, Estonia, Bulgaria, Albania and Poland. In total, nearly 4,200 foreign team members and more than 600 from Poland will participate in all events.<\/p>\n
The Technical University of Lodz (Politechnika \u0141\u00f3dzka) has entered 12 disciplines for the EUG 2022. In addition to karatekas, waterpolists and swimmers, athletes in sport climbing, basketball, volleyball, handball and judo will also compete for medals at the \u0141\u00f3d\u017a Games. In the Sports Bay of the \u0141\u00f3d\u017a University of Technology swimmers and waterpolists will compete for medals, and in the so-called dry zone futsal and badminton competitions will be held,” said Professor Krzysztof J\u00f3\u017awik, Rector of the \u0141\u00f3d\u017a University of Technology, which is the main organiser of the event.<\/p>\n
