Data from the Polish Tourist Organisation shows that 71% of Poles planned to spend their holidays in the country this year. The information points to a large and growing decline in interest in holiday travel among Poles. Currently, the decline has reached 38% compared to the same period last year, with 21% at the end of May and 32% in mid-June.<\/p>\n
The head of the Nocowanie.pl portal Tomasz Zaniewski said that the number of accommodation searches for July is now a third less than in the same period last year, and for August by more than half less. The average cost of accommodation per person is at least a dozen % higher than a year ago.<\/p>\n
With the rising prices of transport, food and accommodation itself, a lot of tourists are probably delaying their decision to go or are counting on finding cheaper offers at the last minute,” noted Zaniewski. A frequent reaction to the rising cost of holidays is also the shortening of a planned holiday.<\/p>\n
The website’s data shows that almost one-quarter of tourists are planning to leave for seven days, with only 3% looking for accommodation for a 14-day stay. More than one-third of tourists would like to spend their holidays in a rented cottage, with the same number looking for accommodation or a room. Apartments are the third most popular, with 13% of enquiries.<\/p>\n
Invariably, holidays at the seaside are the most popular. A total of 70% of all queries for available accommodation in the West Pomeranian and Pomeranian Voivodeships, with W\u0142adys\u0142awowo being the most frequently searched locality.<\/p>\n
