As indicated by PGNiG, the strategic goal is to fill the Baltic Pipe with gas as much as possible from its own production. According to the adopted forecast, it should be at least 2.5 bcm per year in the first years of the pipeline’s use, with the prospect of own production at the level of 4 bcm in 2027.<\/p>\n
The company stated that it has already concluded contracts for gas supplies to Poland by Baltic Pipe, among others with Danish Orsted. Talks about further agreements are underway, including extending their scope to cooperation not only in the area of \u200b\u200bnatural gas supplies but also in the broader Polish energy sector.<\/p>\n
PGNiG emphasized that the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline is not treated as the only source to meet the demand for gas in Poland and to replace the Yamal pipeline after the expiry of the contract with Gazprom. In the company’s opinion, such an assumption would not be consistent with the idea of \u200b\u200bdiversification, which assumes no dependence on one direction of supply.<\/p>\n
PGNiG\u2019s will provide a flexible import portfolio with gas from Norway as one of its key elements but not the only one.<\/p>\n
The Baltic Pipe gas pipeline will create a new route for natural gas from Norway to Denmark and Poland, and to end-users in neighbouring countries. The gas pipeline will be able to send a maximum of 10 billion cubic meters of gas annually to Poland and 3 billion cubic meters from Poland to Denmark. According to the plans, the Baltic Pipe will start operating on October 1, 2022, and reach full capacity at the beginning of 2023.<\/p>\n
