The museum also emphasizes the importance of timeless and universal attitudes that have much in common with love: sensitivity to the harm of others and dedication to the people in need.<\/p>\n
\u201cAction Daffodils is a tribute to the fighters and civilians who faced their tormentors in the occupied city 79 years ago, with no hope for military success. This year’s event takes place at a time when another bloody conflict has flared up abroad. It is therefore natural that we will also manifest love in the dimension of timeless opposition to war, we are against aggression, and we are on the side of the victims. We must remember and we cannot be indifferent to evil\u201d, says Zygmunt St\u0119pi\u0144ski, director of the POLIN Museum.<\/p>\n
The program of Daffodil social and educational action focuses on the theme of love – also sisterly and brotherly love, romantic or parental love. The ambassadors of this year’s action are Irena Santor, Krzysztof Gonciarz, Eliza Rycembel, Janusz Gajos, Andrzej Piaseczny and Aleksandra Pop\u0142awska.<\/p>\n
The daffodil has become a symbol of respect and memory of the uprising thanks to Marek Edelman. A survivor of the ghetto, the last commander of the Jewish Combat Organization was placing a bouquet of those yellow flowers at the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes in Warsaw’s Muran\u00f3w on each anniversary of the Uprising. The action organized by the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews is aimed at disseminating this symbol and spreading knowledge about the uprising itself.<\/p>\n
